Pondering...

I was talking to a friend today about the saying coming out of the closet. What is the closet? Who started this saying, I wonder. Its a really odd saying. Me and said friend were in the bookstore, and i saw this saying that said "Gay guys stay in the closet because there interested about fashion" it made me chuckle but it was kind of steroetypical. But what if its a linen closet? And why a closet, why not a pantry? Sorry i'm being stupid, back to my orginal point. People usually are highly ashamed of homosexuallity and tend to stay in this proposed closet. I don't think its very fair. I mean yes its a sin and bad and whatnot, but hey let them breathe people!Oh and also do bisexuals come out of a closet. Me and my friend Cola always said i didn't come out of a closet but a bathroom because that where i told her and my other best friend Niki about my "issue". We even wrote a ska song about how i wasn't going to engage in that behavior regardless. Its called "on the other side of the toilet". If you would like to read it just let me know, ska fans. Theres a really cool part about jesus getting out the plunger. Its a very cool song. okay so we're losers. Thats enough for today

I'm not totally sure but I think the closet refers to hiding stuff. You know, it's like when you have to clean your room and you need to throw everything somewhere really fast. The closet it the best place for it. And maybe, coming out of that closet represents all of that stuff falling out and being in plain view again. Or atleast, that's what I always saw the saying as.

The closet is a room. It represents the eternal struggle of the human phsyce. Parallel universes and ironic twists. Nothing is as it seems. Gay men admiting their sexual preference in a twisted world where Christians oppose everything to do with it. Here in....the Twilight Zone.

Oh wait, seriousness? Sorry, I ran out of that for today.

I've always thought of it as the ol' "skeletons in your closet" expression. Something you didn't want to confront because of how others would react.

I mean yes its a sin and bad and whatnot, but hey let them breathe people!

Let them breathe! Absolutely, that's all tolerance asks, you can still believe something is a sin and tolerate the "sinner." But I would edit your comment to read "I mean, yes I believe it's a sin..."

That's kind of what I think. People put stuff in the closet to hide it from prying eyes and therefore will not be judged on what little secrets they have.

Thanks for the opinons guys.
Brandon~ I like your idea. It makes sense.
Suspeckted~ I like your idea about tolerance. As a christian, I still have to agree with you. I don't know about editing that or not.
